@Backpainbaby is the name I coined for myself as a content creator on TikTok. As a person that is recovering from trauma and experiences chronic back pain, I find it crucial to build a safe space in my creative practice. With my content, my goal is to embue safety, comfort, play, and curiosity. I want to welcome you into my playground.
Flower Girl is a mask I created as a response to a self portrait project for an artist residency application in October 2021 (see Flourish.) Despite being accepted but not being able to attend the residency, I found joy in this character and she became the subject of many video art pieces exploring memory, tenderness, and play.
